US Macro: UMCSI March 2017 The Consumer
Last month we said that the consumer looked quite positive. There had been an upside rally in consumer confidence after Trump’s elections. However, we were concerned about February’s data, which was suggesting that confidence could be peaking.
As you can see in the graph we have some good news, there was an increase in March (97.6) from February (96.3). This was possible thanks to the increase in the Current Conditions Index.
Although I will keep a very close eye on what happens the next months, we can’t deny the strength of the movement. So, for now, the best thing we can do is to take a bullish view on it.
